Owners & Staff:
The business owners are Adrien and Janet Lefebvre. Adrien is a founding member and has been with the business since it's beginnings in 1983. Janet is a fully qualified pre school teacher and in addition to helping Adrien, works as head teacher at the Rainbow Pre School. Together their knowledge and passion for quality educational toys, gifts and puzzles gives Tarata a leading edge.
We employ a number of staff most of whom have been with us for several years. Learning to make our products, especially the Balancing Animals takes years to master and takes dedication, skill and patience. All Balancing Animals are hand cut on specialist machinery. This skill has to be learned over the years, by first making our other products and then once skilled enough, advancing to cut Balancing Animals. Making these requires close attention to detail, and steady hand and great coordination. But that is only the beginning.
Our staffing policies are possibly a little different from other work places. We believe strongly in a good work life balance. For many years staff have always been able to arrive a little late, take a little time off during the day or leave a little early on occasion so that personal and home situations can be looked after. Several of the staff are parents and it is nice to be able to offer this flexibility.
